Peace Is Every Step
by Thich Nhat Hanh The author shares social commentary, anecdotes, and meditation strategies that can be incorporated into your day. I read this book because it was given to me as a gift by my college admissions counselor. She had struggled with constant worrying, anxiety, and the burden that daily stress puts on us all. The strategies and reflections in the book helped allow her to make progress towards a happier and healthier life. Through incorporating the mindfulness strategies described by the author, I was able to strengthen my ability to live in the present moment and not worry about things outside of my control. By changing the way I thought about the world, things that would normally stress me out no longer did. To this day, I practice aspects of meditation and mindfulness described in this book in my daily life. It has helped me build up a habit of thinking and responding to situations, as opposed to reacting with whatever emotion an event would naturally elicit. The book is an awesome tool to help prepare young adults for their exciting and demanding futures. |

I read this book because it had an interesting title and it’s short. Through reading this book, I’ve permanently changed the way that I view money and how I manage it. It’s a must read for every young adult, as basic financial literacy will result in a less stressful and more gratifying life. |
