Ender’s Game
by Orson Scott Card Ok, I admit it: I’m a sci-fi and fantasy book nerd. This book is largely to blame. Child geniuses are taken from their families and trained in advanced military warfare so that they can defend the Earth from an alien invasion. It speaks deeply to young people who are often overlooked and misunderstood by adults and society – something I’m sure no teenager can relate to. The best part, it’s the first book in a trilogy in which the second and third books are probably even better. Just don’t watch the movie. Please. |
Trinity and Exodus
by Leon Uris Want to start a revolution? Then find out about two of the biggest in history by joining the exciting genre of historical fiction! All the fun of history without the silly responsibilities of “historical accuracy." Trinity explores the conflict in Northern Ireland through fictional families embroiled in the conflict. Exodus is a ground-level view of the formation of modern-day Israel in the aftermath of WWII. The books are quite large, but the kind you put down after finishing and say “Did I just read that whole thing… In three days!” |
